EXPANSION OF CONTINUING MEDICAL EDUCATION ACTIVITIES ON MANDATORY MEDICAL ETHICS FOR DOCTORS
2 June 2025
The Singapore Medical Council (SMC) will open applications in July 2025 to invite Continuing Medical Education (CME) providers with an interest to offer Mandatory Medical Ethics (MME) CME programmes from 1 January 2026. All newly approved MME CME providers may offer any or all of the 15 approved MME topics as stated in the annex of the circular.
SMC-approved CME providers with an interest to offer MME CME may email SMC at smc_cme@spb.gov.sg for the detailed guidelines. Complete applications, including the proposed MME CME curriculum, must be submitted to SMC at least three months before the start of the MME programmes from 1 January 2026 onwards.
CME providers are advised to submit applications early as longer processing time may be needed if the proposed MME programme(s) require SMC’s further review and consideration, or is submitted during the Practising Certificate renewal peak periods at year-end.
Doctors and CME providers should note that only MME CME programmes offered by SMC-approved MME CME providers would qualify for the MME core points.
