Renewal of Practising Certificates for Registered Doctors 2020

Fully and conditionally registered doctors whose Practising Certificates (PCs) are expiring on 31 December 2020 can apply for renewal online from 2 September 2020 onwards.

Renewal Criteria
Doctors who wish to apply for renewal must fulfil the following conditions:

• Met the required Continuing Medical Education (CME) points during the validity period of your current PC; and
• Voted in SMC Elections or paid the fine(s) for not voting.

CME Points
The CME points required for the following duration of practice are as follows:

Doctors holding two-year PC
• Obtained at least 50 CME points accumulated within your current PC validity period of which 20% or 10 points are based on each of your registered specialty and/or in Family Medicine;

Doctors holding one-year PC
• Obtained at least 25 CME points accumulated within your current PC validity period of which 20% or 5 points are based on each of your registered specialty and/or in Family Medicine.

Online Submission
PC renewal application must  be completed  online via the Professional Registration System (PRS).

Please submit your application online at Login for Doctors & Providers (best viewed using Internet Explorer 8.0 or above) using your SingPass and password, as well as the One-Time Password generated (OTP) via 2-factor Authentication (2FA).

Late Renewal
Please submit your application latest by 30 November 2020.  A non-refundable late application fee of $80 will be charged for application submitted from 1 December 2020 onwards.

Notice of Renewal
With effect from 1 January 2016, the SMC has ceased sending out hardcopy notices. You will be notified via email when your PC is due for renewal. As such, please ensure that your email address is updated in your PRS account.
